Job description

Join Amaris Consulting as a Product Designer / Design Engineer and contribute to the creation of a design system and a digital marketplace within an international environment. In this role, you will design and build a Figma design system and a coded React component library, while shaping a tested high-fidelity prototype for a Tools & Resources Marketplace in close collaboration with business analysis, development, and stakeholder teams.

Your missions

  • Audit existing design assets, foundations, and interface patterns to identify improvement opportunities and define a consistent design approach.
  • Build a complete design language covering typography, color, grid, spacing, iconography, data visualization guidance, and responsive standards.
  • Create and maintain a Figma component library using variables, auto-layout, variants, states, UX patterns, page templates, and templates for publications and presentations.
  • Develop and document a coded React component library, including design tokens, component specifications, governance rules, versioning, and handover materials.
  • Conduct user research to understand how users find, assess, contribute, and reuse tools and resources.
  • Translate requirements into information architecture, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Design and test AI-assisted interface features, including generated outputs, confidence indicators, and provenance information.
  • Support developers, communities of practice, and technical partners in adopting the component library while ensuring accessibility and inclusive design standards.

Your profile

  • 5+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, service design, or design engineering for complex platforms, portals, or digital products with a global user base.
  • Experience building, owning, and governing a production design system at scale, including a coded component library, token architecture, component API, versioning, and direct collaboration with development teams.
  • Experience designing marketplaces, repositories, resource-sharing products, AI-related interfaces, open-source communities, public-sector platforms, or multilateral digital services is a strong advantage.
  • Expertise in Figma, including component libraries, variables, auto-layout, variants, states, and scalable design documentation.
  • Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Storybook, Git, and production component library maintenance.
  • Knowledge of WCAG standards and accessibility requirements for multilingual, low-connectivity, and varied digital literacy contexts.
  • Degree in UX/UI, interaction design, HCI, digital design, or equivalent practical experience.
  • English fluent. Another UN language such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian is a plus.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, visual craft, design system expertise, and coded component library work.
  • Strong collaboration, facilitation, documentation, and communication skills in international and cross-functional environments.

Of course, you will also get to know Amaris: our culture, our roots, our teams, and your career opportunities!

Case study: Depending on the position, we may ask you to take a test. This could be a role play, a technical assessment, a problem-solving scenario, etc.

As you know, every person is different and so is every role in a company.  That is why we have to adapt accordingly, and the process may differ slightly at times. However, please know that we always put ourselves in the candidate's shoes to ensure they have the best possible experience.
We look forward to meeting you!
