  • Lead and coordinate safety analyses (HARA, FTA, FMEA/DFMEA, FMEDA) at system, subsystem and ECU level for hardware and software.
  • Derive safety requirements from hazard and risk assessments and ensure their correct allocation to system, hardware, software and supplier deliverables.
  • Review and challenge system and software architectures to ensure that safety mechanisms, redundancies and diagnostics are properly implemented.
  • Support functional safety engineers and specialists in planning and executing safety activities across the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure that safety requirements are correctly captured, traced and verified, from concept design through validation and release.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to align on safety concepts, requirements and evidence, and ensure that supplier solutions meet project safety objectives.
  • Monitor functional safety compliance, consolidate safety work products and contribute to the safety case and release documentation.
  • Provide input to functional safety processes, methods and guidelines, and support continuous improvement of the organization’s FuSa framework.
  • Act as technical authority for functional safety topics within the project, supporting design reviews, risk assessments and decision-making.
  • Work closely with systems engineering, hardware, software, quality and reliability teams to ensure a coherent safety strategy.
  • Communicate safety status, risks and mitigation plans to project management and stakeholders in a clear and structured manner.

  • Formal training or certification in functional safety (e.g. ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineer/Professional) is a plus.
Experience & Skills
  • Extensive experience with safety concepts, hazard analysis and risk assessment for embedded automotive systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with safety analysis techniques such as HARA, DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA at system and component level.

  • Experience with architecture modeling tools and requirements management tools (e.g. SysML/UML tools, Polarion, DOORS or similar).
  • Proven ability to interpret and refine requirements from early design phases through industrialization and production.
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in vehicle system architectures, control systems or functional safety engineering.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, structured way of working and ability to explain complex safety topics to non‑experts.
