Job description

We are looking for a driven and entrepreneurial Business Development Manager (or Senior profile, depending on experience) to build, develop, and lead their own Business Unit with full operational and strategic ownership.

This role is ideal for someone ambitious, results-oriented, and eager to grow a business from the ground up within the Life Sciences or Healthcare sector.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Business & Strategy

  • Build, develop, and scale your own Business Unit
  • Identify market opportunities and map client needs, technologies, and competencies
  • Develop structured technical and financial proposals and lead price negotiations
  • Coordinate and lead qualification meetings between clients and consultants
  • Monitor project performance and deliver regular project reviews and reports

Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Anticipate client needs and identify new business opportunities
  • Manage and grow an existing client portfolio
  • Open new accounts, including handling legal and contractual aspects

Financial Management

  • Own and manage the Profit & Loss of your Business Unit
  • Analyze financial performance and optimize revenue and margins
  • Identify risks and implement action plans to improve profitability
  • Manage recovery and financial follow-ups

Management & Leadership

  • Contribute to business planning and strategic decisions
  • Support and develop key team members
  • Propose and implement new processes and improvements

HR & Talent Management

  • Participate in recruitment processes (sourcing, interviews, selection, onboarding)
  • Build and manage a team of consultants
  • Support career development, performance reviews, and team engagement
  • Anticipate and manage bench/inter-contract situations

 

Qualifications:

  • 3–4 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or similar roles
  • Experience in cold calling and active prospecting is required
  • Background in Life Sciences or Healthcare is highly preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of ambition and autonomy
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • French is a plus

Expected Compensation Range:
The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements. 

Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
