Job description

We are looking a Senior Warehouse Automation Specialist to lead the design, implementation, and continuous optimization of advanced automation solutions across distribution and logistics operations.

In this role, you will act as a key System Engineer, bridging operational requirements with cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems), and machine vision. You will play a critical role in driving efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in complex warehouse environments through technical expertise, data-driven insights, and strong project leadership.

This is a remote position; candidates must be based in Canada or the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Implementation

  • Design and deploy automated warehouse solutions, including AS/RS, conveyors, AGVs, and robotic picking systems
  • Architect end-to-end automation systems aligned with operational and business requirements
  • Integrate RTLS solutions for real-time tracking of assets and inventory

Technical Optimization & Performance

  • Analyze workflows, system performance, and data to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks
  • Implement data-driven improvements to maximize throughput, accuracy, and system reliability
  • Optimize WMS, WES, and related automation technologies

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Ensure high availability and performance of automation systems (robotics, sensors, vision systems)
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across hardware and software layers
  • Maintain technical documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead or support automation projects from concept through deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, IT, and Engineering
  • Ensure seamless implementation with minimal disruption to live operations

Training & Change Management

  • Support adoption of new technologies across operational teams
  • Develop and deliver training materials and best practices

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to improving workplace safety and ergonomics

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in warehouse automation, system engineering, or industrial automation
  • Proven experience with RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems)
  • Strong expertise in machine vision systems
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • WMS / WES platforms
    • Robotics, AGVs, or automated material handling systems
  • Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, sensors, and control systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel (nationally and/or internationally) as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience (PMP or equivalent is a plus)
  • Experience with programming or scripting (e.g., Python)
  • Strong data analysis and performance optimization experience
  • Background in industrial engineering, robotics, or logistics systems
