Job description
We are seeking a highly driven Procurement Manager – Biological Materials to join our Indirect Procurement Delivery team. This team is responsible for core procurement activities including category management, strategic and operational sourcing, supplier management, contracting, and content strategy execution across key business areas such as Research & Development, Commercial, Corporate Services, Digital & Technology, and Facilities.
In this role, you will combine analytical thinking, strategic planning, and execution excellence to drive sourcing and procurement delivery within the Biological Materials category. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient procurement operations while continuously enhancing automation, content availability, and the overall buying experience.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional procurement teams and business stakeholders to translate evolving business needs into effective sourcing strategies, spend management initiatives, and innovative procurement solutions.
Work mode: Hybrid in Mississauga (3 days per week)
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Category and Sourcing Subject Matter Expert for Biological Materials, conducting market intelligence and internal analysis to develop sourcing strategies and tactical plans.
- Lead and execute end-to-end sourcing activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management.
- Drive cost optimization, value creation, and risk mitigation across procurement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with R&D and business objectives.
- Develop and implement automated buying channels and procurement content to improve efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
- Support day-to-day procurement operations while contributing to strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage procurement systems and AI-enabled tools to enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with global regulations and ethical standards (e.g., GCP, GLP, GDPR, HIPAA, Nagoya Protocol, IRB requirements).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- MBA or Supply Chain certification is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of procurement experience, including:

Contract negotiation and supplier management
- Experience within Pharmaceutical, Diagnostics, or Life Sciences industries is strongly preferred.

- Familiarity with end-to-end procurement systems and digital/AI-enabled tools.
- Solid understanding of R&D regulations and compliance frameworks.

- Fluent in English (business level).

Expected Compensation Range:
55K-65K The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
