Job description

We are looking for a Power System Engineer with strong experience in utility-scale electrical systems to support projects focused on high-voltage protection studies, grid reliability, and utility network simulations. In this role, you will work on simulation, protection system design, and technical documentation for large-scale electrical utilities, including Microgrid and generation protection projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct power system studies and simulations using ASPEN, CAPE, and ETAP.
  • Design and model protection and control systems for substations, transmission, and distribution networks.
  • Configure and validate Omicron protection relays used in utility networks.
  • Perform fault analysis, protection coordination, load flow, and stability studies for generation and high-voltage systems.
  • Support grid integration and Microgrid interconnection projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for utilities and grid operators.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including utilities, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • 4–5 years of experience in electrical power system engineering within utility environments (generation, transmission, or distribution).
  • Strong knowledge of substation protection, generation protection, and transmission system stability.
  • Hands-on experience with ASPEN, CAPE, and ETAP.
  • Experience working with Omicron protection relays.
  • Understanding of grid codes, utility regulations, and interconnection standards.
  • Ability to manage technical tasks independently and communicate effectively within project teams.
  • On site in Markham

 

Expected Compensation Range:
50K-90K The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements. 

Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
