Job description
We are looking a Usability Engineer to support usability engineering activities for DreamStation X under the supervision of a Senior Usability Engineer. This role focuses on use-related risk analysis, usability testing, and formative evaluation activities within the medical device space. The ideal candidate has experience with human factors engineering methodologies, medical device usability standards, and cross-functional collaboration. The candidate must be adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-changing environment where project priorities may shift frequently.
This position is Remote, based in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Use-Related Risk Analysis (URRA) activities, including:
- Review of known usability issues
- Theoretical identification of use errors
- Critical task analysis
- Development of requirements to mitigate usability risks
- Review existing use-related risk analyses to:
- Identify gaps or areas for improvement
- Complete incomplete assessments
- Plan and execute Usability Formative Evaluations, including:
- Expert reviews
- Heuristic analyses
- Simulated-use testing
- Develop usability evaluation documentation:
- Study protocols
- Test execution plans
- Evaluation reports
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including:
- Systems Engineering
- Medical Affairs
- Product Management
- Support usability engineering processes aligned with regulatory and industry standards.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in usability engineering, human factors engineering, or related field.
- Experience with formative usability testing, use-related risk analysis methodologies and Medical device usability processes.
- Familiarity with:
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration Human Factors Guidance
- IEC 62366 standards
- Relevant usability engineering methodologies
- Experience working in the medical device industry.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with electromechanical medical devices.
- Knowledge of Figma or similar design/prototyping tools.
- Experience working directly with user groups such as: Patients, Respiratory therapists, Sleep technicians
