We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at Amaris Consulting, based in Belgium. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about data and technology and want to make a significant impact on business transformation. 

 

πŸ”₯Your Responsibilities: 

  • Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems. 
  • Ensure that all systems meet the company requirements as well as industry practices. 
  • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures. 
  • Create custom software components (e.g, specialized UDFs) and analytics applications. 
  • Mine hidden insights from company databases using statistical methods to generate useful business reports. 
  • Collaborate with data architects (data modelers) to ensure that all developed solutions are in line with the company’s architecture principles. 
  • Work closely with IT teams, management and other departments for project planning purposes within your area of responsibility. 

 

🎯 Your Profile: 

We're looking for someone who's eager to learn more about big data technologies such as Hadoop or Hive. As an ideal candidate, you should be detail-oriented but also able to see the bigger picture, someone who can not only manage large amounts of detailed information but also translate it into actionable strategies. 

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required; Master’s degree would be advantageous. 
  • Familiarity with big data tools like Hadoop or Hive is preferred. 
  • An understanding of SQL database design and multiple programming languages including Java/Python. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, and workload management. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French or Dutch.  
  • An analytical mind-set with the ability to work in a team as well as independently. 
  • Minimum 1 to 7 years of experience.
